Vernon 'Red' Tegeler retires after
52-year career at Siemer Milling
TEUTOPOLIS, ILL. - Vernon " Red "
Tegeler has retired after a 52-year career
at Siemer Milling Co. that saw him
emerge as a company leader and devoted
contributor to the milling
industry through the International
Association of Operative
Millers (IAOM).
Tegeler began working at
Siemer Milling, Teutopolis,
Ill., in 1972 while in high
school. He became head miller
in 1985, vice president of
production in 1990 and senior
vice president of strategic
initiatives in 2019. He retired on Sept. 26.

Tegeler joined the IAOM
Dawn Foods' family matriarch
Evelyne Jones dies at age 107
JACKSON, MICH. - Evelyne Jones,
matriarch of the owning Jones family and
a longtime corporate secretary at Dawn
Food Products, died Sept. 17 at age 107.
Jones and husband Marlin started the
business with the purchase of
the Dawn Donut Co. in 1955.
Under their leadership, and
that of family members, Dawn
Foods expanded to provide a
full line of bakery products
- including donuts, cakes,
mixes, bases, icings, glazes,
fillings, frozen dough, baking
ingredients, seasonal items
and bakery equipment - to
supermarket and artisanal
bakeries, foodservice and manufacturers.
Born Evelyne Ansbaugh on Dec. 2, 1916,
Jones
in Reading, Mich., she attended school in
the community and graduated from Reading
High School in 1934. She married her
high school sweetheart, Marlin Jones, in
1936. Shortly before their marriage, Marlin
Jones in 1935 joined the Dawn Donut

Co., sowing the seeds for the couple's
acquisition of the company 20 years later.
Today, Dawn Foods has more than 3,500
employees globally and supplies bakery
products to over 50,000 customers in 100plus
countries.
Evelyn and Marlin Jones
had five children: Ron, Steven,
Miles, Edwin and Janet.
Evelyne Jones was predeceased
by Marlin (1982), Steven
(1995), Janet (2005) and
infant son Edwin.
Currently at Dawn Foods,
Ron Jones serves as chairman
emeritus and Miles Jones as
board chairman. Evelyne
Jones' grandchildren carry on the family
legacy, including Carrie Jones-Barber as a
board member and chief executive officer,
Sam Jones as a board member and senior
director of sales operations for North
America, Sarah Richmond as a board member
and director of Dawn corporate giving,
and Aaron Jones as a board member. MBN
in 1979 and served a term as president in
1995. In 2007, he received the IAOM's highest
honor, the Gold Medal Award for service,
bestowed only 22 times in the association's
128-year history. In presenting
him the medal, David Neff, chairman of
the awards committee that year, described
Tegeler as a " true champion " of the IAOM
and a continuously active member who
served the association as a committee
member, a mainline speaker and an officer,
culminating in his tenure as president.
Tegeler was recognized as IAOM
Milling Operative of the Year in 1994.
Established in 1986 by Milling & Baking
News, the award is given to the practicing
milling operative who has made the most
significant contribution to the progress of
a plant, a company and the industry from
an operations perspective. Tegeler also
was active with the Grain Elevator and
Processing Society (GEAPS) and was honored
during GEAPS Exchange in 2017 for
25 years of continuous membership. MBN
CASBA elects
Felicia Quigg as
president
SEA ISLAND, GA. - The Cookie and
Snack Bakers Association (CASBA) has
elected Felicia Quigg as incoming president.
She becomes the association's first
female president in its 55-year history.
Quigg is vice president of family pride for
Richmond Baking, Richmond, Ind. She also
founded More
Than a Bakery,
an arm of Richmond
Baking
located in Versailles,
Ky.
Quigg was
elected incoming
president
at CASBA's 55th
annual convention,
held Sept.
22-24 in Sea Island. Kevin Boyle, chief executive
officer of the Schulze & Birch Biscuit
Co., Chicago, was awarded Person of the
