UZWIL, SWITZERLAND - Bakels
Group, a manufacturer and distributor of
bakery ingredients and application solutions, has acquired the flour ingredient
business of the Bühler Group. As part of
the transaction, 70 employees of Bühler
Guangzhou are moving to the new owner,
effective immediately. Financial terms of
the transaction were not disclosed.
All shares of China-based Bühler Bangsheng Food Ingredients (Guangzhou) Co. Ltd.
have been signed over to Bakels Group.
"With Bakels, we have found an excellent owner and strategic partner for
flour ingredient solutions," said Johannes
Wick, chief executive officer of Bühler's
Grains & Food business.
Rothenburg, Switzerland-based Bakels
has more than 2,750 employees.
"Flour ingredients have been a missing
link in our portfolio so far," said Armin
Ulrich, chairman of Bakels. "We are excited to close that gap now by taking over

Bühler's well-positioned business and
strengthen our position in China."

to offer flour ingredient solutions under Bakels' lead to milling and bakery customers.

Arcadia makes wheat flour with
reduced gluten available online
DAVIS, CALIF. - Arcadia Biosciences,
Inc. is selling its GoodWheat reducedgluten wheat flour online for a limited
time. The flour contains 65% less gluten
than traditional flour, and it contains 10
grams of fiber per 2-lb bag.
The 2-lb bags may be purchased
for $12.99 each until they sell out at
eatgoodwheat.com. Arcadia Biosciences has made 500 bags available, which
should ship in early January. A full-scale
release is planned for spring 2020.
"Many consumers are looking to reduce

their gluten intake, either as a result of a sensitivity or because they simply feel better,
and our GoodWheat reduced-gluten wheat
flour allows them to enjoy their favorite
recipes without compromising on taste and
texture," said Sarah Reiter, chief commercial
officer for Davis-based Arcadia Biosciences.
The Connell Group, Chicago, conducted research on behalf of Arcadia
Biosciences that found 26% of American
consumers consider themselves to be gluten reducers, meaning they do not have
gluten-related medical conditions but say

GBM said it expects a tougher scenario
for top-line performance at Mexico Citybased Grupo Bimbo following weakerthan-expected volumes during 2019. The
research firm also said it anticipates a lower capital expenditures estimate for 2019 at
13,535 million pesos, down from an earlier
estimate of 16,273 million pesos.

GBM did note several signs of profitability improvement at Grupo Bimbo,
specifically in North America and Europe-Asia-Africa. The gains have come
from initiatives that target a "leaner and
more efficient" operation, GBM said.
Grupo Bimbo's status as a leader in its
main categories around the world also
was pointed to as a strength by GBM.
"With one of the largest fleets in America and 202 facilities with state-of-the-art
technology, serving more than 3.1 million
points of sale, Bimbo has managed to
become a market leader in its main categories within its territories," GBM said.
"All this provides the company with a
