SOFT WHEAT MILLERS TO
PONDER 2019 OUTLOOK
Soft wheat millers were to
gather on Marco Island, Fla.,
for the North American Millers'
Association spring conference.
A panel of millers will provide
forecasts for 2019 soft red
winter wheat production by
state. Last year's panel forecast
2018 soft red winter wheat crop
at 310 million bus; the final crop
estimate was 286 million.

Late and even prevented
plantings last fall were
expected to influence the
panel's outlook for this
year.

at 163 million bus, unchanged.
Hard red spring wheat was at 289
million bus, up 27 million bus.
White wheat was at 59 million
bus, up 10 million bus, and
durum was at 49 million bus,
up 4 million bus. The all wheat
carryover forecast was above the
average of trade expectations.

U.S.D.A. sees carryover
of corn up in February
WASHINGTON - The U.S.
Department of Agriculture, in
its March 8 World Agricultural
Supply and Demand Estimates
report, forecast the carryover
of U.S. corn on Sept. 1, 2019, at
1,835 million bus, up 6% from
1,735 million bus forecast in
February but down 14% from
2,140 million bus in 2018. The
increase resulted from forecast
lower use of corn for ethanol
and lower exports in 2018-19.
Soybean carryover on Sept. 1,
2019, was forecast at 900 million
bus, down 1.1% from 910
million bus forecast in February
but up 105% from 438 million
bus in 2018. The decrease was
the result of a 10-million-bu
increase in 2018-19 soybean
crush, forecast at a record 2,100
million bus. The 2019 U.S.D.A.
corn carryover forecast was
above trade expectations while
the soybean forecast was near
the trade average.

RiceBran finalizes
private placement
THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS
- RiceBran Technologies on
March 8 said it has completed a
private placement of 3,046,668
shares of common stock and
a pre-funded warrant exercisable into 1,003,344 shares of
common stock. The private
placement is valued at approximately $12.14 million and was
completed with strategic and
institutional investors that included Continental Grain Co.,
DG Capital Management and
Dillon Hill Capital. RiceBran
said it plans to use proceeds

from the offering for several
strategic initiatives. "The completion of this financing is an
important inflection point in
positioning our company for
future growth in order to build
significant shareholder value,"
said Brent R. Rystrom, chief executive officer of RiceBran.

Nature's Bakery unveils
new packaging
RENO, NEV. - Nature's Bakery is rolling out new packaging featuring bold colors, craft
cues and appealing product
imagery on its soft-baked snack
bars line. The initiative is part
of the company's effort to "help
make the choice for healthier
snacking an easy and appealing
one," Nature's Bakery
said. In addition to
the new packaging,
Nature's Bakery said
it is introducing a
new product line for the breakfast on-the-go market. Oatmeal
Crumble Bars will debut later
this summer in three varieties:
strawberry, apple and cherry.
Nature's Bakery said the opentop oat bars incorporate fruit
jam and dates topped with a
crunchy oat crumble. The bars
contain 3 grams of fiber and 14
grams of whole grains.

Rice producer splits
sales, marketing duties
RICHVALE, CALIF. - George
Orosz has been named to the
newly created role of vicepresident of sales at Lundberg
Family Farms, a provider of
organic rice, rice products and
U.S.-grown quinoa. Mr. Orosz
had been with Schwan's Co. for
the past six years, most recently
as senior director of sales for the
club channel. Earlier, he worked
for Hostess Brands, ZoomSystems, Archway & Mothers
Cookie Co., The Gillette Co.,
The Coca-Cola Co. and Nabisco
Biscuit Co. Todd Kluger, who
had been vice-president of sales
and marketing, now will lead
marketing operations as vicepresident of marketing. MBN
