Kellogg promotes Chris Hood to
lead North America business
BATTLE CREEK, MICH. - Chris
Hood has been named president of
Kellogg North America at Kellogg
Co. Mr. Hood currently is president of
Kellogg Europe and will be succeeded
in that role by Dave Lawlor, currently
vice-president of European Cereal
Business at Kellogg.
In his new role, Mr. Hood will report to Steve Cahillane, chairman and
chief executive officer of Kellogg Co.,
and will lead the portfolio of businesses within the company's largest
region, including U.S. Morning Foods,
U.S. Snacks, U.S. Frozen Foods, U.S.
Specialty Channels, Kashi and Canada. He replaces Paul Norman, who
had been president of Kellogg North

America since 2015 and left the company in April to pursue other opportunities.
Mr. Hood joined Kellogg in 2012
as part of the Pringles acquisition.
Previously, he was vicepresident and general
manager for Pringles
North America at Procter & Gamble, where he
worked for 19 years.

Cargill names v.p. for food safety,
quality and regulatory
MINNEAPOLIS - Sean Leighton,
who joined Cargill in 2017 in a food
safety and quality role, will become
global vice-president of Food Safety,
Quality and Regulatory (F.S.Q.R.)
on Aug. 1. He will take over for
the retiring Mike Robach, who will
stay involved with the Global Food
Safety Initiative as chairman of the
board through 2020.
Mr. Leighton began his career
with The Pillsbury Co. and then had
quality assurance and microbiology

roles with Land O'Lakes Dairy. He
then held food safety roles, including an assignment in Vienna, at the
Coca-Cola Co. He was vice-president of quality assurance, safety
and environmental sustainability at
Coca-Cola before joining Cargill.
Mr. Leighton received a bachelor 's degree in bacteriology
from the University of Wisconsin, a master 's degree in food
science and nutrition from the
University of Minnesota, and a

Rick Dahlin, former Dawn Foods
v.p., dies at age 70
ORACLE, ARIZ. - Richard L. (Rick)
Dahlin, longtime veteran of the baking industry, died May 24 following
an accident at his home in Oracle. He
was 70 years old.
Mr. Dahlin was president of Henry
& Henry, a producer of fruit fillings,
icings and glazes for baking applications, for many years before joining
Dawn Foods in 2002 as vice-president
of operations. While at Dawn he also
served as vice-president of principal
accounts and vice-president of wholesale accounts, specializing in sales for
large wholesale bakers and small/
medium manufacturers. He worked
as a consultant for Dawn from 2013
until his retirement in 2017.

Henry and Dawn, Mr. Dahlin was active
in many bakery trade organizations,
serving on the boards
of the American Bakers
Association, the Allied
Trades of the Baking Industry and as president
of the National Bakery
Suppliers Association.

Mr. Lawlor began his career at Kellogg in 1991 in sales in Ireland and has
held increasingly senior commercial
roles within the company's businesses
in the Mediterranean, Middle East,
Russia and United Kingdom.
Both leadership changes will take
effect July 1.

the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on food safety policy, Hazard
Analysis and Critical Control Points
(HACCP), and regulatory reform

Mary Watkins succeeds
Greg Leech as president
of Beatrice Bakery
BEATRICE, NEB. - Mary Ellen
Watkins has been named president
of Beatrice Bakery Co. She succeeds
Greg Leech, who retired June 1 after

nearly 40 years with the company,
including the past eight as president
and chief executive officer.
Ms. Watkins spent the last 10
months shadowing Mr. Leech in
preparation for taking over the
top spot at Beatrice Bakery, which
is known for its Grandma's Fruit
