testing in Mexico and Texas, 7-Eleven,
Inc. is nationally expanding its Hispanic packaged bakery items under
the 7-Select brand.
The new Mexican sweet bread options are available in three varieties:
Panquecitos sweet vanilla mini loaf
cakes, Roles de Canela cinnamon rolls
with raisins, and Panque con Nuez
sliced pound cake with chopped pecans.

Nutrition bar maker opens new
California manufacturing plant
ANAHEIM, CALIF. - Nellson Nutraceutical, L.L.C. has opened a 300,000-squarefoot nutrition bar manufacturing plant in
Ontario, Calif.
"This project began in 2016 when
we decided it was better to build from
scratch rather than retrofitting our aging
facility in Irwindale, Calif.," said Jamie
Better, chief executive officer of Anaheimbased Nellson. "Our goal was to construct a world-class nutrition bar facility
that would provide our brand customers
unmatched R.&D. expertise and the latest
process and manufacturing innovations
for nutrition bars as well as a first-rate
working environment for our employees.

"This is the first new facility of its kind
in North America in at least the last 16
years and is an important strategic investment for Nellson as we gear up to
meet customers' rapidly evolving demands in a dynamic nutrition market
across multiple segments, including
sports performance, wellness, weight
management, functional and medical
nutrition."
The facility features in-line process capabilities that enable new formats such
as slabbed and extruded bites, triplelayer bars and custom shapes. In-line

Aryzta in filing to close La Brea
distribution plant in April
LOS ANGELES - Aryzta L.L.C. in late February filed a federal
Worker Adjustment and Notification Retraining Act (WARN)
notice with the Workforce Service Division of the Employment
Development Department in Sacramento, Calif., alerting the
department of its intent to cease operations and lay off 109 employees at its facility in Vernon, Calif.
In the letter, Aryzta said the La Brea distribution facility, located at 3250 East 44th St. in Vernon, will close on April 28.
"The closure at Vernon is due to changes in Aryzta's distribution system, and it had no impact on Aryzta's level of
customer service, manufacturing capability or product portfolio," said Tracy Zirbel, a spokesperson for Aryzta. "Additionally, this facility was a distribution center, not one of our
plants/bakeries.
"Due to a change in customer strategy, this distribution center
is no longer necessary, and there is no impact to any of our bakeries in North America."

introduced the sweet bread products in
December 2017, offering them in about
640 stores throughout Texas.

Hostess relaunches Dolly
Madison brand for vending
market channel
KANSAS CITY - Hostess Brands, L.L.C. is relaunching its
Dolly Madison brand for distribution in the vending and micro
market channel.
Hostess said the brand, which first launched in 1937, will include an expanded lineup of sweet goods, including Donut Gems
in powdered, frosted, crunch and glazed varieties; Zingers in Iced
Devil's Food and Iced Vanilla varieties; Dolly Madison Chocolate
Cremes; Dolly Madison Golden Creme Cakes; Dolly Madison
Chocolate Cupcakes; and Dolly Madison Coffee Cakes.
"With the return of the beloved Dolly Madison brand to the
vending segment, we are addressing a channel that continues
to expand while renewing our offering of this iconic line,"
